Gourmet dining!

Jan 9
We thought about cancelling today's Tiko Tiko cruise after Paula's experience the day before on the Bluebeard but she insisted on going so we got up again and headed down to Papagayo for 9 o'clock. I was pretty excited to go on this cruise to Tintamarre Island that everyone says is so much fun. However, when we got there Captain Philippe told us we were the only ones to show up, and since he requires a minimum of 6 to go the cruise was cancelled. He offered to take us out the next day instead but we had planned to pick up some jewellery that we had bought from Marie at the Papagayo wine a cheese party Tuesday night. As it turned out he didn't go the next day either, presumably because it got so windy.
It was cloudy and windy so the rest of the day we spent hanging out on Orient, having a nap in the condo and buying some more stuff from our friends Francois and Sandy at the vendor shacks. You hate to waste time when on vacation but over half way into our trip it wasn't bad to have a bit of a down day to relax. We knew we wanted to check out the fine dining at Grand Case and that night we headed over, strolled the main boulevard and decided on Piazza Pascal. We had a card for a 10% discount and
they took dollars at par with Euros which is a good deal and another 40% discount! I had the calamari steak for an appetizer which was simply amazing. A several strips of meat as thick as your finger and deliciously prepared. Paula had insalata caprese that was also good, just not my thing. For the main course Paula had the lobster ravioli and I had the pistachio encrusted snapper, both of which were specials that night. The fish was superb and although we usually switch plates part way through we did switch back as I was just loving the fish too much. Two glasses of wine and a bread pudding for dessert later we were full! The total bill was just $100 before tip which we thought was quite reasonable! I was also pleasantly surprised by the portion size. Typically in North America the trend is to large portions which imply value I presume but really just leads to overeating. These portions were much smaller but left us completely satiated and not bloated! I liked it! We headed home, the sun down, another day complete!
